Looking to strengthen your English skills? Here are some easy ways to do so:
1. Listen to English language podcasts, audiobooks, or music.
Practice your comprehension skills by listening to a podcast, an audiobook, or some music in English. Pick your favorite genre and give it a try!
2. Watch English language movies or television series.
Watch a movie or TV series in English to learn conversational skills and practice your comprehension. Add subtitles and work on your reading skills, too!
3. Read English language books, magazines, or news.
Reading in English is not only fun—it is also a key skill for university success! Practice your English by picking up an interesting book. Or catch up on the news by picking up a magazine or newspaper in English.
4. Challenge yourself to journal in English.
Writing skills are also a necessity! Practice writing in English daily by keeping a journal. Just writing one short journal entry in English every day is great practice.
5. Practice conversing in English with friends and family.
Work on your conversational skills by speaking in English with your friends and family. Even if they do not fully understand or speak English, you can still practice your speaking skills.
6. Take a practice TOEFL exam.
The TOEFL exam evaluates English language skills. Test your knowledge by taking a practice exam! The results will show you which skills you need to work on.
Tomorrow’s Leaders applicants are evaluated by many criteria, including their English language skills. Applicants can demonstrate their English skills in the essay portions of the application and in the ASU English assessment. Take some time to practice your English. Language skills are like muscles—they become stronger the more you exercise them!
